On 16-17 March, 2017 in the High Tatras, in Stara Ljesna, the Congress Centre of Slovak Academy of Sciences hosted an International scientific and practical conference “Innovative Provision of the Modern Cross-Border Cooperation between Slovakia and Ukraine.”
The conference was held within the framework of the project “Information Management and Implementation of Innovative Approaches to Cross-Border Cooperation between Slovakia and Ukraine”, funded by a grant from the Norwegian kingdom with the help of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism and co-financed from the state budget of the Slovak Republic.
Apart from the project beneficiary – the Centre of social and psychological sciences of Slovak Academy of Sciences and its partners, this highly representative forum (of a total of about 70 people) was attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway, the Czech Republic, Hungary, authoritative experts from Poland, the Netherlands, Slovakia and Ukraine.
The professional guarantor of the project, Ph.D., Senior Fellow at the Centre of social and psychological sciences of Slovak Academy of Sciences Marian Haydosh opened the conference with his introductory speech. He warmly welcomed the participants and guests of the Forum, spoke about the objectives of the project and wished everybody the fruitful work.
The professional guarantor of the project, Doctor of Sociology, Director of the Institute for Cross-Border Cooperation, Ambassador Sergey Ustych presented his report “Through Innovation to Effective Cooperation.” The Secretary General of the Norwegian Barents Secretariat George Fordal and Mayor of Kirkines (Norway) Ryune Rafaelsen also spoke on the plenary.
The conference worked in three panels, where there were held fruitful and interesting discussions attended by over 30 participants.
At the final plenary the conference organizers summarized the work content.
Following the conference, the Slovak Academy of Sciences will publish the forum materials.
Later the practical recommendations of this important project will be presented in Slovakia and Ukraine.
